Idiocy has only gotten worse. It didn't seem like it at the time, but my school was avant garde compared with others in Texas. I was caught reading Karl Marx, Bertrand Russell, John Maynard Keynes and Kenneth Galbraith and survived to tell the tale.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04598093941551759917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19580203.post-7222511363203960332007-12-20T03:24:00.000-08:002007-12-20T03:24:00.000-08:00len-You better thank your lucky stars that you did...len-

You better thank your lucky stars that you didn't go to college in Florida...they dont send you to a counselor for asking controversial questions, they will just tase and arrest your ass!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19580203.post-51010718472403541272007-12-20T02:08:00.000-08:002007-12-20T02:08:00.000-08:00bremertongreg said...they have their faithful brai...bremertongreg said...

they have their faithful brainwashed that DEMOCRACY and CAPITALISM are the same thing

You are absolutely correct. That your posting that brings back some interesting memories. If you've read my bio, you may have concluded that I grew up in a very, very "reactionary" part of the world, complete with John Bircher's and "Impeach Earl Warren" bumper stickers. I was a debater and scandalized the entire school when I put forward the proposition that capitalism was actually incompatible with Democracy. What a furor!! I was given an appointment with the counselor. To be perfectly honest, I enjoyed the controversey. I made those oil pumpin' bastards think. It must have hurt them to do it. And no one could refute it. That, of course, is not a proper "style" for a debate proposition, but it is fair topic of discussion. Our UIL debate that year had to do with whether or not the US should form a "common market" with Latin America --the exact wording escapes me. It's been awhile.

Haven't read Naomi yet...but I have watched her one hour long interview. It's available on YouTube and I posted it to one my articles. I am probably in complete agreement with her. She's is very smart.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04598093941551759917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19580203.post-55704940344962816912007-12-19T04:28:00.000-08:002007-12-19T04:28:00.000-08:00Len, As long as the tin foil is cheap and plentif...Len, As long as the tin foil is cheap and plentiful, we will never be truly free in America. The real trouble with the GOP is that they have their faithful brainwashed that DEMOCRACY and CAPITALISM are the same thing...Speaking of America, Have you read Naomi Wolf's book The end of america: Letters to a young patriot? It lists 10 things a democracy goes through in a fascist shift. W has done all 10!!
Go figure...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19580203.post-57882742240336413192007-12-19T00:48:00.000-08:002007-12-19T00:48:00.000-08:00You are absolutely correct, Dave. GOPPERS routinely espouse whacked-out, crazy fairy tales like "Supply Side" economics, called a "trojan horse" by Reagan's own budget director. A handful of smart GOPPERS know it to be bullshit but advocate it anyway because it's a convenient way to pay off the GOP base of elites, robber barons, and suck ups to the Military/Industrial complex.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04598093941551759917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19580203.post-61115968685885830792007-12-18T19:04:00.000-08:002007-12-18T19:04:00.000-08:00When people like Warren Buffet and Robet Riech are...When people like Warren Buffet and Robet Riech are worrying aloud about the imbalance of ownership in the country, you know it's not just tinfoil-hat thinking. Too bad the public has the gopper's mass-marketed "taxes-are-bad" tinfoil hats placed squarely on their heads. The problem is never taxes, the problem is wasted taxes, which, to the GOP's wealthy base, means "money spent on the working people who provide me with my ridiculous quantities of wealth".daveawayfromhomehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06237313399294302353noreply@blogger.com
