Certainly --the US was at its most egalitarian for only a short period of time immediately following WWII. There may have been a brief slowdown of the upward trend during the LBJ years. Since Eisenhower, however, the transfer of wealth to the 'ruling' elites has been deliberate. Anything else have been but temporary exceptions.

The economic and social conditions that led to the last Great Depression have been intentionally reproduced under the Bu$h administration.

Indeed! Even before starting up the 'Cowboy', I had taken a lot of heat for daring to tell the truth: the GOP benefits from recessions, and benefit MOST from outright depressions.

What's both comic and tragic is the fate of the nouveau riche. Most are not really 'rich' at all but have put up a good show --moving to fancy gated communities, driving German built cars, sending the spawn off to private schools with names like "Montessori".

The guys wear goofy, neon pants and play golf. The women whine and mispronounce --badly --the names of French designers. They are the dupes who fall off the ladder when the real crunch comes.

When I write of an 'increasingly tiny' elite the KEY WORDS ARE: 'increasingly tiny'. That means that the wealth owned by the top twenty today is owned by the top ONE percent tomorrow. No one but the the very, very, very, very rich win. The faux riche, the nouveau riche, the pretentious denizens of pretentious suburbs, are just as fucked as they are fucked up!

Their goal now is to maintain these conditions under the rule of the Democrats.

As much as I like Obama, history may record that he just prolonged the agony. A REAL revolution will wipe out this 'elite' and from the ashes of l'ancien regime will rise a new and egalitarian republic described by Ambraham Lincoln as '...a new birth of freedom'.

Certainly --no people are free who are denied by policy the benefits of equality of education, fundamental rights, health and opportunity.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04598093941551759917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19580203.post-51945328746358928062008-11-16T04:05:00.000-08:002008-11-16T04:05:00.000-08:00Thr primary goal of the people who own the GOP and...Thr primary goal of the people who own the GOP and who may well have bought the Democrats is to establish an American aristocracy.

The economic and social conditions that led to the last Great Depression have been intentionally reproduced under the Bu$h administration.

Their goal now is to maintain these conditions under the rule of the Democrats.
