So many crimes, so little time to report them. In the following example, a cowardly 'cop' turns off the video camera before beating hell out of a woman denied her right to make a telephone call. She was beaten senseless, lucky to have escaped with her life. Click her pic for the "Raw Story".
US Cops Are Out of Control, Perhaps 'Inspired' by Abu Ghraib!
Quite how Angela Garbarino received two black eyes, a broken nose, broken teeth and blood pouring from her head after a "slip and fall" is not quite explained by officials or ABC News, who ran with the headline Police Brutality or Slip and Fall?If police arrived at a house where a handcuffed woman was lying unconscious in a pool of her own blood with two black eyes, a broken nose and broken teeth with a man standing nearby, who would the prime suspect be? Would the police refuse to arrest the man because no videotape of the incident took place or would they go with what every single piece of circumstantial evidence was screaming out had happened?
The police are refusing to press criminal charges against the officer because "no one knows for sure what occurred." That's probably because this cowardly thug, Officer Wiley Willis, made sure his brutal assault wasn't recorded on camera.
The only way a person can end up looking like that after a "fall" is if that fall was off a cliff!"
--Thug Cop Beats Up Defenseless Handcuffed WomanCaliban is unleashed; the evil genie is uncorked. Unless this stops, America is finished. Warning to US citizens. Cops are no longer your protector. Just as GOP policies have consistently made terrorism worse [2], crime in Texas worsened over the back to back regimes of George W. Bush and his successor, Rick Perry, called Governor Goodhair by the late columnist, Molly Ivins.
In 2006, an estimated 1,417,000 violent crimes were committed, a sharp increase from the 1,360,000 reported in 2004 and approaching the estimated 1,425,000 in 2002.
--New York Times, Violent Crime Reported Up 2% in 2006Had the rest of the nation paid attention to what had happened in Texas during Bush's failed governance of that state, this horrible and seemingly never-ending nightmare might have been avoided. The sorry state of "criminal justice" in Texas was the unheeded warning, the predictor of nightmare years that are here and now!
Much of the Texas prison system is outsourced to private firms. It is but a small step to contracting Blackwater to patrol US urban centers, as the combined forces of Blackwater, DynCorp, and Wackenhut were deployed in New Orleans. The result was disastrous.
In the meantime, the Department of Homeland Security moved forward toward the planned construction of "emergency detention facilities" --concentration camps in locations throughout the US, letting no-bid contracts totalling some 385 million dollars to Dick Cheney's Halliburton and KBR. As to be expected, the camps will be "activated" in the event of a terrorist attack or a declared "national emergency", perhaps the kind of attack recently predicted by Bush.
Just last week, Bush who supports draconian violatons of the right of citizens to be safe and secure inside their own homes, warned that terrorists are planning another attack that will make 911 "pale by comparison." [See:Bush Warns of Attacks While Backing Bill] I want to know what Bush is planning!
Will a 'terrorist attack' necessitate postponing or cancelling the electcions? Will a declaration of a national emergency lead to martial law and big fat juicy contracts to Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, DynCorp and the other usual Dick Cheney cronies?
Is America finished? Is this how the great experiment ends? Bush wants you to be afraid! Indeed, you should be. The US government --under Bush the world's biggest terrorist organization --has the means, the method and the motive to make George Bush's nightmarish vision come true.

What do you mean if the rest of the nation had paid attention to bush's governance all this might have been avoided? The 2000 & 2004 elections were stolen. America had no choice in who was to be POTUS.
Exit polls are right on target, but when the polls showed Gore won in 2000 and Kerry in 2004, the presidency was handed to BOOSH by the SCOTUS.
That's what the powers that be wanted, that's what the powers that be got.
yes, Len, there will be no election this year. The pending economic COLLAPSE will be used as a rationale to force American taxpayers into concentration camps
American consumers, no longer able to afford propping up the economy, tapped out by years of falling wages and outsourced jobs, having been reduced to working at low pay no benefit service jobs, the hallmark of a true third world economy, will finally be sheparded into concentration camps and forced labor.
Soon Americans will know what 98% of the rest of the world that has been force fed NAFTA, CAFTA, SHAFTA the World Bank and the IMF already know: How to survive OR not, on 2$ a day.
God bless us all.

I agree ---SCOTUS screwed us. But the election should never have been so close. My comments are aimed at the center, those folk who kid themselves, who from time to time cast a gop vote in a general election.
The GOP should be reduced to its shrinking base, the endemically crooked core. And it should never, ever be more than about 30 percent of the population at most.

It was all planned and Bush keeps tipping his hand. America has become a hell hole. It gives me no pleasure to write that.

I agree Len, espicially the 2004 election...that should have been well determined, but was not. Of course there is the out side chance that the fraud is more endemic then is known.
It is like all of the ruckus the Fl Dem party is raising...I went back and checked the percentages for the Reagan wins in 80'/84', it appears that a large slab of Fl Dems threw in with "the great communicator" . I thought it laughable when Karen Thurmond ( Fl Dem party leadership) and Senator Bill Nelson recently sued (and lost) the DNC over this primary voting squabble...I will bet dollars to donuts they did not even come close to suing the RNC in 2000/2004, where we KNOW votes were stole from Fl. dem voters through illegal suppression and possible fraud.

Skimmed your blog...like it so far!
I have a growing belief that there will be no election due to some "serious attack" allowing Bush and Cheney to declare matial law. I've told many people that lately and they look at me in disbelief, still clinging to the notion that it could never happen.
I then ask them "What if Bush and Cheney would decide to do that? Given the events of the past 7 years, who would stop them?"
So far no one has answered that for me.
Thanks, Big Dan. Come again. You'll find the welcome mat out.

That should never have happened. The GOP CANNOT win without the center plus a few defectors on our side. The GOP hard core base is commonly estimated at about 30 some percent. I suspect that Bush has done us a favor. Sure it has dropped since he revealed what gopperism was really all about. The GOP should never, ever get more than 30 percent in a general. I would feel safer if the lying bastards never got more than fifteen or twenty.

It is not my belief but it is definitely my FEAR! I hope we are both wrong. The future of the nation, perhaps the world, depends upon our being wrong.
Police violence is only new to you if you are a white middle class person that has never resisted authority. Cops have been treating the less-human portions of the population like this since forever. Try being non-white, or a student protesting. Also, try getting the ID on a cop that has done something wrong so you can complain about them. Then they will get you for sure. "Don't tase me bro!"
Police violence is nothing new to me...what is new is the atmosphere of state OK'd police violence that has its roots in a lawless administration. When Blackwater gets to 'kick ass' with impunity in Iraq and is made out by Bush and Fox to be heroes, Barney Fife, who just barely managed to pass the exams, is inclined to think his own uniform a license to 'kick ass' as well.
Police violence is often racially biased. In Houston, some cops were openly supportive of the KKK. And the KKK, in my opinion a terrorist organization, operated openly in Pasadena, TX near the Houston Ship Channel. These guys are buttheads, idiots, racists. 'Kickin' ass' compensates for their lack of intelligence and their lack of self-esteem. I have now come to the conclusion that they don't DESERVE to have high self esteem. Screw 'em. I just wanna see the bastards locked up like every other criminal.

The existance of armed gangs in blue suits is the antithisis of a free people.
Freedom in America ended in the late 1800s when the corrupt politiicans hired "police" gangs of gun thugs and set them to work controlling and terrorizing a people who had once been free.
The only way to restore freedom in America is to exterminate the blue suit gun thugs and the corrupt politicians that they keep in power -- of both major parties.
Since 1900 the poliitcal party in power has changed back and forth a number of times, but the corruption and domination of the armed blue suited gangs keeps getting worse and worse.
The enemies are right in front of us, waiting to rob us when we travel, or waiting an excuse to attack and destroy us in our homes. They are independent of political power, and in fact the politicians no longer control them.
Bob
People who comment on my blog say that the rich and powerful corporate interests have already stolen everything and so they will allow the election to go on because it fools most of the American public into thinking that we are still a democracy. However, those in power will continue to keep their power and only those who allow the powerful to dictate will be allowed to run for office. That is why Kucinich and others like him never get anywhere. That is why it doesn't matter if you vote for McCain or Obama or Clinton. However, I will still vote in the upcoming election and it sure won't be for a GOPPER.

In the absence of a real news media, that theory is as credible as any other. I believe, however, that the Axis of GOP/MIC/S&B (a real axis of evil) was caught off guard by DieBold. I am inclined to believe that many another election was stolen. I've never believed that the nation was ever as 'conservative' as Reagan-heads thought it had become. Clinton was a fluke. The plan was that Sr would hold down the fort, pass it on to Jr and thus create a dynasty. Just a thought.
Getting caught stealing the election in Florida was a Monkey wrench but the GOP is still in power but under seige as it has never been.

Absolutely.

I wish I had the time to write a proper history of the labor movement. At least, in those days, labor put up a fight. Considering how many were murdered, beat up, tortured, and otherwise 'terrorized' by the 'bosses', it is incredible that labor hung on for as long as it did.
Even in the 20th Century, the teamsters, the steelworkers, the automakers still had some clout. It took a Ronald Reagan to finish them off.
I recommend "The People vs Clarence Darrow" by Geoffrey Cowan, a great book that pieces together many myths and truths about the legendary Clarence Darrow, perhaps the most eloquent advocate of labor this nation has ever seen. Cowan lays all bare! And Darrow is seen to be a mere mortal after all. He drank bit, kept a mistress happy, and was known to bribe a juror or two. He justified it in his own mind. The big industrialists, the oppressors of labor, used much worse tactics. And, indeed, they did! Cold blooded murder was never off the table and Andrew Carnegie was as ruthless as any other robber baron. Given the absurd mismatch of power, a man like Darrow might forgive himself a little drink, a mistress, even a little bribe here and there knowing that he was up against the Blackwater of its day, the Pinkertons.
The cold-blooded murder of strikers was winked at. Labor in the US never really had a chance. Darrow was charged with jury tampering in LA where he found himself under fire by labor as well as the ruthless robber barons he most often opposed. Labor denounced the plea bargain deal he worked out in order to free the McNamaras who had been charged with blowing up the LA Times Bldg. Labor felt betrayed as did the Socialist candidate for mayor of LA, Job Harriman.
I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night,
Alive as you or me
Says I, "But Joe, you're ten years dead,"
"I never died," says he
"I never died," says he
Thanks to Joan for keeping the memory alive. It's about all we have left.
My Original thought was "just Imagine if the results had been reversed, and it was the Cop who was so beaten. I wonder if they would decide not to prosecute because the cop might have done all that damage 'just by falling'?"
To the Comments thread, and the fake elections, Being in Florida, I have watched the Debacle first hand and it goes very deep. From a zip code with 4 Republican representatives and one Democrat who wins by 95% and the totals for all 5 are 50% Democrat, To the well documented games in the actual voting that has made Florida infamous.
Indeed I too hope that Bush the lesser is gone by this time next year, and will not be astounded if he is not.
You Live In Jack's Country Now Boy
There is a rampaging cancer of police brutality that is running through Der Heimat. I see it every day with overzealous blue suited, kevlar coated goons beating, tasering and even shooting people under the most dubious of minor 'offenses'.
This is what happens when the great propaganda machine is able to harness the fear and loathing post 9/11 and successfully market Jack Bauer as some sort of national hero.
....and Blackwater is coming.

Wow, I just posted something along the same lines myself. Great minds and all that.
I oppose police as authority. For good reasons. They are out of control.
I suppose it's as good a time as any to let you read mine...since it's related and all...A spam like link, to a related story.
It's not spam, it's Spam! Anyway, glad to see you're blogging strong still.

I hope you don't mind some profanity here. Because all I can think right now is "Oh fuck.....".
(You can totally edit that out if you want to.)
Yeah, time for coffee, and serious bloggin'. I gots work to do.
I lived in Albuquerque, NM, a few years ago. The TV show COPS frequently filmed there becuase of all the "action." After a while tourists begain avoiding Albuquerque becuse it was getting a reputation for blue gun thug violence and beatings. Big organizaions were cancelling conventions. So Mayor Marty Chavez banned the filming of COPS. He did nothing at all to clean up the ultra-violnece of the Albuquerque blue gun thugs, just hid them by turning off the cameras.
Albuquerque is no difference from 99% of the other towns and cities in the US and other countries. The blue gun thugs are wildly out of control, beating and killing citizens on a daily basis.
Blessings
Bob
The photo of that woman is disturbing. I have known cops/authorities before who were caught up in their own power trip but since 9/11 and the creation of the DHS, it has gotten much worse.
I have been threatened with arrest by a flight attendant for wanting to use the restroom on a plane that had been idling on the tarmac for over an hour after landing, I've been warned of impending arrest by the TSA because my toe was an inch or two over the white line on the floor when he wiped my bag down for explosive residue, I've had all my eye drop containers dump out after having my bags rifled through because their drug/explosive sensor went off, and I've heard story after story of regular people treated criminally by those whose job it is to provide security.
It's as if we're creating a nation of tribal warlords under the ruse of public safety. It's not a war on terror, it's a war against our own citizens under the cover of national security.
Please don't create a police state on my account. Tin badge Rambos and rent-a-cops drunk with power do not make me or anyone else safer.
i suppose my question is.... if we all have some kind of premonition of doom, then what is the plan? I grow so frustrated hearing all this large talk, (dont get me wrong im glad we are all aware and talking)but no one has any plans or motivation to put it into action. For all the armed citizens of this country i think the police would have a serious time rounding us all up into camps. By now the military personel who are here are so irate that i doubt they would turn on their families, if they saw they were being murdered and forced into camps. I have no idea why people havent made a firm physical stance on this sort of behavior. If we realize that they are using fear on us..... im sure they dont want us turning on them, but i suppose its only a matter of time. I dont want to believe we could all be rounded up and done away with that quick....i cant believe it

Cops (and the whole justice system) can indeed be brutal in the U.S.
That is, unless you are rich and white.
Anyone remember T. Cullen Davis?
Meanwhile, Texas prisons are packed fulled of hundreds of thousands of low-income inmates, rotting away with life sentences for petty drug crimes no more serious than what a certain rich white frat boy did when he was in the Texas Air National Guard back in the 70s.
