Support the Proposed Amendment that Would ABOLISH 'Corporate Personhood'

I fully support a movement to enact a 28th amendment to the U.S. Constitution that rejects and will undo the recent SCOTUS decision 'creating people' of 'legal abstractions', i.e, corporations. The idea that corporations are people is insidious, seditious; it endangers American Democracy. While 'real people' are held to the letter of the law and often imprisoned for wrong doing, corporations, as 'persons; will be, in practice, 'above the laws'.

In fact, these newly created 'people' i.e, corporations will be (if not already) placed'above the laws' that apply to mere folk! As has been said:
"I will believe that corporations are persons when Texas EXECUTES one of them!
A proposed amendment would reverse the decision of the high court with respect to Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. In a 5-to-4 vote, SCOTUS 'created' real people of mere corporations declaring that corporations have, among every Constitutional right, a right of 'free speech' under the First Amendment. It was declared that the government may not 'impose restrictions' on the political speech that corporations may indulge. But, not being persons in fact, corporations have no such right! That is a right our founders believed were inherent rights of people, REAL people!

As a result of this pernicious decision, corporations and other special interest groups are now given license to spend "unlimited amounts of money on elections." They may 'buy' an election openly whereas, in the past, it was necessary to hide the evil deed from public scrunity! A 'real' person cannot do this! Therefore, 'corporate personhood' is, on its face, a violation of the Fourth Amendment!

The decision is a green light to corporations: buy and/or support any candidate with as much money as you want to spend! The decision could not have been a bigger afront to Democracy, i.e, government of the people. Free speech is a right of people as affirmed by our founders. That corporations may now claim that right is simply fascism. It makes of our nation a 'fascist' state ---pure and simple!

The ORIGIN of 'corporate personhood' is found in an informal note from a CLERK: "The defendant Corporations are persons within the intent of the clause in section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which forbids a State to deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." To apply this to 'corporations' requires that one must first assume that the entity is a 'person'! That is called a 'circulus en probando' fallacy. In the vernacular, it's 'backward thinking'; it assumes facts not in evidence. It is a conclusion cited to support a premise.

And --no, Mitt --corporations are NOT people and you, sir, are NOT my friend!

The Equal Protection Clause, part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, provides that "no state shall ... deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."[1] Prior to this mere clerk's mere note, NO ONE had believed that the 14th amendment applied to anyone but real people. Nor does it now! Scalia's court blew it again! If Scalia had a last remaining vestige of conscience, he would confess that he:
  • BLEW IT;
  • ADMIT that he is a bought and paid for tool;
  • RESIGN!


Corporations are NOT people! They are 'Conspiricies of Rich Men'

Real persons are conceived biologically in a womb! There is a word for that process but this short note is not about sex. Corporations, by contrast, are pieces of paper filed with a Sec of State somewhere (probably Delaware). Ergo: a 'corporation' is not and never will be a person.

A 'corporation' has more in common with and is more accurately described/compared to a piece of paper than to real, living biological persons to whom John Locke and, later, the American founders, ascribed 'rights'. NO rights accrue to mere legal abstractions but the 'privileges' that are defined and described specifically in a corporate charter that is prepared in advance by REAL people. Corporations can be constrained, restrained and/or limited by law and several hundred years of precedent.

NO intelligent person believes a 'corporation' is a 'person'. Sir/St Thomas More --arguably the most brilliant confidant of King Henry VIII --most certainly did not believe 'corporations' were 'persons'. More believed, rather, that they were 'conspiracies' and 'conspiracies of crooked rich men' to boot:
"I can perceive nothing but a certain conspiracy of rich men procuring their own commodities under the name and title of the commonwealth.They invent and devise all means and crafts, first how to keep safely, without fear of losing, that they have unjustly gathered together, and next how to hire and abuse the work and labour of the poor for as little money as may be. These devices, when the rich men have decreed to be kept and observed for the commonwealth’s sake, that is to say for the wealth also of the poor people, then they be made laws. But these most wicked and vicious men, when they have by their insatiable covetousness divided among themselves all those things, which would have sufficed all men, yet how far be they from the wealth and felicity of the Utopian commonwealth? Out of the which, in that all the desire of money with the use of thereof is utterly secluded and banished, how great a heap of cares is cut away! How great an occasion of wickedness and mischief is plucked up by the roots!

I suspect that the idea of 'corporate personhood' may have its origins in a misunderstanding, a mis-read of Hobbes'. But the Hobbes Leviathan refers to the 'state' --not to businesses that may be chartered in any way whatsoever by a state. In any case, not even the 'state' Leviathan is considered by Hobbes to have been a single person but, rather, the abstract sovereignty invested in the state by the people as a collective --NOT as a single entity as is the case with personhood. Nor have I found anything in Hobbes that asserts that the 'state' has the power to make 'people' of abstractions whose only raison d'etre is the making of money.

A herd is not a cow! A covey is not a quail. A stamp collection is not a stamp nor is a flock a single sheep. An ant is not a colony, but more to the point, a colony is NOT an ant.

How Americans Are Enslaved by a Corrupt Right Wing Machine!

The name of a 'god' and a sacrifice associated with fire, the term 'Moloch' is found in Hebrew and Arabic and other Middle Eastern cultures --Ammonite, Canaanite and Phoenician as well as related cultures in North Africa and the Levant.

In American or modern English usage, the term or 'character' "Moloch" refers to any leader or person requiring costly sacrifices and/or utter enslavement. The term is thus especially applicable to a corrupt, right wing system requiring of its citizenry a virtual enslavement by virtue of diminishing or increasingly prescribed economic roles.

In the US, this is often referred to as being a "wage slave". Most recently, "Moloch" describes not just an extreme right wing establishment but the enslavement of every American who is left behind by GOP tax cuts benefiting just one percent of the population of the nation, the the ruling one percent. Moloch is all-pervasive, effectively denying to all the choice to live otherwise but for and 'in' the omni-present machine.

'Liberal' Means Free but GOP Means Slavery to Moloch

The definition of the term "liberal", muddled of late, has an honorable tradition. "Liberal" is derived from the latin "liber" which means "free". Up to the end of the eighteenth century "liberal" signified "worthy of a free man". Thus we still speak of the "liberal arts", a "liberal occupation". Despite subtle shades of meaning or various connotations, "liberalism" in general remains a "free" way of thinking and acting in private and public life. Its opposite --conservatism --connotes a top-down authoritarian mentality, a doctrinaire, restrained (retarded?) manner of thinking. Conservatism is forever to be associated with fascism, monarchy and dictatorship, i.e -- 'Moloch'!

We are enslaved in three ways:
  1. economically by an inequitable system in which 95 percent of the population works to support and enrich a ruling one percent;
  2. sociologically by dividing society by wealth, segregating society into walled-off communities, carving up cities into slum dwellers vs the privileged elites who live in gated, walled communities;
  3. ideologically with the Orwellian word games designed to facilitate (catapult?) the propaganda which maintains 'Moloch' in his/her roles as both master and devourer!
Modern debasement of the term 'liberal' may be traced to "McCarthy" types who clearly succeeded in associating "liberal" with "Stalinism", "fellow travelers" or communism. Buying into the paradigm implies a tacit agreement to the terminology. It means that we are forced to play by their rules, their definitions.

Moloch is found in various societies throughout history whenever a small number enslaves by force or economics or both a much, much larger general population. That outcome was achieved with the rise of the GOP, most recently with Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr and, later, George W. Bush.

Never perfectly egalitarian, the US was, nevertheless, more equitable under the Democratic regimes of LBJ, Jimmy Carter, and, more recently, Bill Clinton. Clinton had begun a tentative reversal of entrenched trends that had begun with Reaganomics often called supply side' or trickle down' theory.

The Shrub regime assumed the role of Moloch, enforcing and re-energizing economic and ideological oppression by citing a mythical external enemy: Arab terrorists! There is, in fact, no admissible evidence whatsoever that any Arab ever boarded any flight nor hijacked any airliner associated with 911. There is, in fact, no admissible evidence to support any aspect of the Bush 'official' theory of 911. There is no Pentagon wreckage traceable to Fl 77, indeed, any airliner. There was, in fact, no wreckage traceable to Ft 93 recovered at Pennsylvania. Ted Olson told several versions of his 'alleged' phone call from Barbara Olson, at least two of which were mutually exclusive. Simply, Ted lied! 911 was the biggest, the most outrageous, the most venal fraud ever perpetrated upon mankind.

The Bush administration codified its dictatorship with oppressive measures --a 'Patriot' Act --which violates every article of the US Bill of Rights! It was, quite possibly, the most UN-patriotic Act passed since the Alien and Sedition Acts. The Patriot Act violates every LIBERAL, every Anti-Moloch principle that had, until Bush, defined the American republic: the presumption of innocence, due process of law, probable cause, and the separation of powers!
I am, therefore, opposed with every fiber of my being to the party of Bush, Reagan, and Bush! I am opposed to every "anti-free", "anti-liberal" measure that has been forced upon the American people by the embodiment of 'Moloch' --the tyrannical regimes of Reagan, Bush and Bush.
The idea that "people" are sovereign is "liberal". The idea that people are --in fact --born free is "liberal". "Liberalism" is the anti-thesis not only of the "divine right of kings", it is the anti-thesis of dictatorship as envisaged by either Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot or, in the US, Bush and the GOP.
The abuse of the term "liberal" is just one more Neo-Nazi lie, typical of the Orwellian political agenda behind it! Liberal is a perfectly good word, an honorable word, a word that I reclaim from a crooked right that deliberately sought to debase it.

I am liberal and, therefore, free!

Minions of the GOP are, conversely, enslaved to Moloch and the lies upon which that shaky foundation rests. No one wins who bargains with Satan.

Among the more pernicious and harmful right wing lies remains 'trickle down theory', sometimes called 'Supply Side Economics'. Clearly --wealth has never, ever trickled down. Labor is the source of value in any economic system. Every major economist from the 'conservative' Ricardo to Karl Marx recognized that fact! This is not a left v. right issue; rather truth vs lies! The exploitation of labor by capital is slavery i.e, 'Moloch'!
Census Bureau: Poverty Rate Rises, Household Income Declines
Although there was a huge increase in real income for average Americans between World War II and the 1970s the income of the average American male has gone essentially unchanged since 1970 as the figure below indicates. Income for females though has continued to rise. What is significant about this graph is that between 1980 and present (2003) the incomes of the top 2% of American wage earners has gone up dramatically despite the stagnation of the income of average Americans.

Economists quantify income inequalities with what is called the GINI Index. Take a look at Stockman's chart of GINI indices at the link. The GINIS actually moved down between 1967 and 1970, indicating that the economy was moving toward relative equality. Things remained essentially unchanged until 1982, the year of Reagan's tax cut for the wealthy. GINI indices increase, i.e. wealth trickles up steadily from that point. According to Dr. Daniel Weinberg of the Census Bureau, the trend abated briefly in Clinton's second term, but the overall trend toward greater inequality resumed with a vengeance under George W. Bush.

A Free Person's Rapid Response to Ideology and Propaganda:
  • Every Democratic President has presided over greater economic and job growth than ANY Republican President since WWII.
  • Job growth under Carter exceeded that of Ronald Reagan.
  • Reagan presided over the worst recession since Hoover's great depression of the 1930's.
  • The Reagan Recession following Reagan's improvident tax cut of 1982 was the longest and most severe since Herbert Hoover's "Great" Depression!
  • Wealth trickled up during the Reagan administration primarily as a result of his tax cuts for the rich even as the bite out of middle income checks increased! ONLY the upper quintile prospered. Every other segment of the population suffered in various ways: job losses, loss of income, loss of net worth, loss of homes. Homelessness hit new highs during Reagan's Recession.
  • Under Reagan, the incomes of the richest 20% increased 18% while the incomes of the poorest 20% declined a similar amount. Wealth "trickled-up" --NOT down as had been promised by "trickle down" and other fringe theorists!
  • Unemployment, high throughout the Reagan debacle, would have been higher had Reagan not doubled the size of the Federal Bureaucracy. Interestingly, he had promised to reduce the size of government. Reagan had to break a campaign promise in order to achieve any success at all.
  • Reagan added some two million jobs to the Federal Bureaucracy; otherwise, his numbers would have been even worse than they are. Nevertheless, his performance in this area still pales compared to Clinton who presided over a 2.4% per year increase in jobs during his administration.
  • The administration of George Bush cannot be said to have created a single net new job! Unlike Reagan, most of the jobs created during the Clinton presidency were in the private sector. Bush --following policies made famous by Ronald Reagan --was in the hole throughout his incompetent reign of idiocy.
  • Best job growth since World War II occurred under four Democratic Presidents: Johnson, Carter, Clinton, and Kennedy.

GOP Seed Pods and Body Snatchers

Anyone who can watch 'The Invasion of the Body Snatchers' and fail to see the GOP is most probably a 'pod person' themselves. This '50s classic has been remade three times because it is the most accurate parable of our times. When the original film was released, many made the analogy to the efforts of Sen. Joseph McCarthy who sought a 'commie' under every sofa and every bed. It was an age of paranoia. For me, though a child, it was clear: the 'pod people' were the McCarthyites. They were the people who had been changed. Especially today --it is the GOP that has sold its soul for war booty, riches, and conquest.

Following is the Wiki entry for the classic Sci-Fi thriller --The Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a 1956 science fiction film based on the novel The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney (originally serialized in Colliers Magazine in 1954). It stars Kevin McCarthy, Dana Wynter, King Donovan, and Carolyn Jones. The screenplay was adapted from Finney's novel by Daniel Mainwaring, along with an uncredited Richard Collins, and was directed by Don Siegel.

Set in the fictional town of Santa Mira, California (actually shot in Sierra Madre), the plot centers on Dr. Miles Bennell (Kevin McCarthy), a local doctor, who finds a rash of patients accusing their loved ones of being impostors. Another patient is a former sweetheart of his; recent divorcee Becky Driscoll (Dana Wynter), who tells him that her cousin, Wilma, has this same strange fear about Uncle Ira.

Assured at first by the town psychiatrist Dr. Dan Kaufman (Larry Gates), that the cases are nothing but "epidemic mass hysteria", Bennell soon discovers, with the help of his friend Jack Belicec (King Donovan), that the townspeople are in fact being replaced by simulations grown from plantlike pods; perfect physical duplicates who kill and dispose of their human victims. The Pod People are indistinguishable from normal people, except for their utter lack of emotion. The pod people work together to secretly spread more pods — which grew from "seeds drifting through space for years" — in order to replace the entire human race.

The film climaxes with Bennell and Driscoll attempting to escape the pod people, intending to warn the rest of humanity. They hide; Driscoll falls asleep and is subverted. With the pod people close behind, a seemingly crazed Bennell runs onto the highway frantically screaming of the alien force which has overrun Santa Mira to the passing motorists and (in a moment that could almost be considered a breaking of the 4th wall) looks into the camera and yells, "They're here already! You're next!"

The GOP is a cult. It's values are subversive, often hostile to 'human' values. Very early in life, I became aware that there were 'sects' within the GOP that were opposed to the teaching of the so-called 'humanities' in high schools and colleges as well as various 'sub-plots' of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment, specifically, what they called 'secular' humanism.

As allegory, the 'invasion' aspect is just a device. What made this film so 'scary' is that there are people who look just like you but, in fact, are alien and seditious --as good a description of the modern GOP as I've ever seen.

The Big Bush 'Bail Out' Blackmail

It is called the 'final stages of the coup'. I call it blackmail and extortion! A man already culpable for the crimes of high treason and mass murder now blackmails the congress and the people of the United States. The result is not just another case of corporate welfare benefiting AIG, it is an unprecedented, coup-completing, fascist power grab.

Larisa Alexandaronva is referring to the coup began with Bush v Gore in which corrupt judges awarded to Bush an election that he most certainly did not win.
I would guess that this has to be one of the biggest peacetime transfers of power from Congress to the Administration in history. (Anyone know?). Certainly one of the most concise.

The Treasury Secretary can buy broadly defined assets, on any terms he wants, he can hire anyone he wants to do it and can appoint private sector companies as financial deputies of the US government. And he can write whatever regulation he thinks are needed.

Alexandrovna charges the Bush-Cheney cabal with deliberately abolishing all the financial regulations put in place by the Roosevelt administration in the wake of the 1929 crash. Bush will be shown to have deliberately provoked the crisis for the purpose of assuming complete GOP control of the US government and its treasury. One is at a loss! Is this the biggest heist in world history? Or --is it the ultimate coup d'etat? Or both?

The GOP will not address the crisis of their creation --they will exploit it and discard the last vestiges of our Democracy in the process.

The Bush regime is a heist! What's just one more grand theft for the road? Already, the Bush admin, like Reagan earlier, looted the US Treasury and again, like Reagan, wiping out the American middle class. The US government is the enforcement arm by which the corporate establishment rules America. The proper word for this is 'fascism'. For some time now, the government of the US must be properly described a fascist dictatorship!
As I write this, in a real sucker punch, the FTSE is up 10% so far today. Hooray, the world is saved!

Or not.

What could be behind this insane, hysterical reaction?

One reason is that late yesterday, the FSA called a halt to short selling of financial stocks in the UK. As a result, many (t)raders have had to get themselves out of short positions. That musta hurt!

The second, much bigger, reason is that the US Treasury Secretary, Hank Paulson, in collusion with the US Congress, is about to commit an act of blatant treason.

Instead of doing the right thing, which would have been to place the system in administratrion (bankruptcy reorganisation), he has decided to make the United States itself bankrupt.

The bankers are laughing up their sleeves.

What Paulson has announced is this: he will establish a Federal agency to buy up what will amount to trillions of dollars of bad debt. The debt will become the liability of the US taxpayer. The bankers will get off scot free. The US will also insure investors in US money-market funds, which have seen significant withdrawals in recent days.

The idea is that, in a reflection of the Resolution Trust Corporation, the debt will be warehoused so that it can get the chance “for much of it to recover a portion of its value.”

But make no mistake, as far as the financial system is concerned, this will achieve nothing, other than delay the inevitable once again.

The real benefit for Paulson’s controllers, is that long held goal of the financial elites - the end of the United States, and that pesky Constitution.

What about us, here in the UK? For us, there’s the small matter of the spectre of hyperinflation which will make Weimar Germany pale into insignificance.

How convenient for the GOP that the passage of this bill makes it impossible to fund everything that is hated by the GOP --health care, education, alternative energy sources, infrastructure, new job creation! A new fascist America will outsource everything. We have already seen how the likes of Wal-Mart have destroyed jobs and lowered wages. We have seen how 'outsourcing' robbed a vibrant nation of its steel, electronics and automotive industries. The fascists have destroyed America.

There are the FEMA camps, and, eventually, there will be death camps! A fasicst government that will not support education now will not support the preservation of life in an economy in which they have destroyed the jobs, its viability, its sustainability. HItler did not hesitate to commit mass murder on an industrial scale and neither will the heirs apparent to Henry Ford et al who openly espoused eugenics.

This is not the first time that the murderous Bush crime family has tried to install a fascist dicatorship in the US. It was Prescott Bush who tried to pull off a fascist coup d'etat, in fact an act of high treason, prior to America's entry into WWII. Bush's act of high treason was called "the Business Plot," involving some top brass and Wall Street big shots, men who openly supported fascism. This administration now blackmails the nation and congress, threatening the total collapse of the economy if the powers demanded by this administration are not ceded to Bushco. America, you have been held hostage since the election of 2000.

I will be surprised if Obama is allowed to take office. McCain will lose a fair election but that has not stopped the GOP in the past. Those working for Obama must understand that it may be necessary to enforce his innauguration with arms should he win the election. Those supporting Barack Obama must understand that "...the peace is considered already broken'.

Now --when you are all but prostrate before the emperor who has betrayed you and your nation, you are blackmailed! Whaddya gonna do about it? All peaceful means of resolution have been denied us.

It is the nature of totalitarianism that it will not seek peaceful resolutions. Rather, a totalitarian regime invariably forces a resort to arms, having robbed the citizenry of every, legal recourse. It is an established principle that people are lawfully entitled to rise up against despotic governments that give them no other choice but revolution. The people have a moral obligation to revolt against tyranny! It is the responsibility and the duty of the people to overthrow the tyrant, the self-proclaimed dictator.

The Bush administration has committed to writing and presented to Congress its intentions to permanently nullify the powers of Congress, to make permanent numerous alterations to judicial powers, many of which were effected with unlawful 'signing statements'. There is a word for that: tyranny!

Why and How the GOP Made 'Terrorism' America's Number One Export

Terrorism may be the GOP's last redoubt. The GOP has exploited fear of communism, drugs, porn and --now --terrorism. Exploitation has defined the party. The 'war on terrorism' is just as phony as were all other GOP 'wars'.

GOP efforts against porn and drugs would fail, it's own membership being among the worst offenders. With the collapse of the 'Soviet Union', the GOP would be left with a single bogey man: terrorism!

Nevertheless, Ronald Reagan still felt it necessary to maintain a 'cold war'. According to Tom Gervasi in 'The Myth of Soviet Military Supremacy', Reagan lied to the American people when he told them that the Soviet Union had 'outstripped the United States and established a military superiority'. Reagan, who tripled the national deficit and double the federal bureaucracy would exploit our fears of 'commies' to justify huge expenditures which had the effect of enriching military contractors. It cannot be merely coincidental that the rise of the American 'military/industrial complex' was and remains nearly inversely proportional to the fall of every other American industry: steel, automotive, electronics et al.

With the decline of the very heart and soul of American economic strength came America's transformation into a fascist state characterized by growing inequalities of wealth and income, the rise of the Military/Industrial Complex, and the role of the CIA as 'enforcer' for the establishment.
There is evidence that members of the same CIA/Cuban exile community participated in the killing of PResident John F. Kennedy in 1963. We also know that the CIA's 1980 contra program later managed to get Luis Posada Carrilles out prison in Venezuela. They put him to work for Felix Rodriguz, who was reporting directly to then Vice-President Bush's office. As Felix Rodriguez told the press, "We needed him." He as referring to Carrilles, the terrorist airplane bomber.

The Iran/Contra scandal revealed the very curious situation in which Vice-President George Bush, supposed in charge of the country's top anti-drug task force, was involved with the drug running contras. IN the early 1980s, Bush travelled to Panama to meet with Noriega, who was then cooperating with the "Black Eagle" operation that supplied arms to the contras and was using Panamanian airstrips. In the mid-1980s, the CIA had a falling out with Noriega, apparently because he refused to cooperate with its plans for the invasion of Nicaragua. The Contra resupply operation was then shifted to the Ilopango airbase in El Salvador, and Felix Rodriguez was put in charge. (Testimony and evidence presented in the Milian Rodriguez trial and to the Kerry Committee showed that the Medellin cocaine cartel was making payments through Felix Rodriguez, buying access to the contra air transport program that was being run out of Ilopango.) Hard evidence, international telephone records for example, proves that Rodriguez was reporting several times a week to Vice-President Bush's office.

'Terrorism' is not just a symptom of the decline, it has played several major roles. Terrorism is the new bogeyman, the 'ringer' for a communist threat that probably never existed but is beyond credible exploitation. Terrorism is much, much more: it is an ill-defined and incredibly convenient pretext by which the GOP may wage an Orwellian perpetual war, in fact, a series of oil wars, that John McCain says may last '10,000 years'. Terrorism, moreover, has become the convenient means by which all opposition to our fascist regimes are marginalized, demonized, and, in worse cases, silenced forever. Draconian measures insisted upon by Bush authorize him to incarcerate without charges, phone calls or habeas corpus anyone suspected of being a 'terrorist'. That means the 'Bill of Rights' is dead. It means the separation of powers is dead! Coupled with his use of 'signing statements' to rewrite laws, Bush rules by decree.

The GOP, aiding and abetting Bush, has now created in the United States an absolute dictatorship the purpose of which is the enrichment of some one percent of the nation to the exclusion of every other class. War on Terrorism' and Ronald Reagan's infamous tax cut of 1982 are high upon a list of many milestones along the path to US fascism and dictatorship. Both and other GOP excesses have turned America into a banana republic, a nation of 'haves' and 'have nots'.
1982 was the worst year since the Great Depression, with -2.2 percent growth. Why should that be? The private sector knew about the tax cuts well in advance. Many conservatives argue that impending changes in tax rates affect corporate behavior; for example, when the rich learned in 1986 that capital gains would be raised in 1987, they took all the appropriate counter-measures in 1986. Then why did this not occur in 1981, with news of massive tax cuts on the horizon?

Furthermore, by 1982 there had already been enormous cuts in the capital gains tax, the most sacred tax cut that conservatives hold dear. Between 1978 and 1982, the top rate on capital gains was cut from 39 to 20 percent. And the top rate on unearned income fell from 70 to 50 percent (mirroring a similar rate cut in earned income).

Goppers, impotent in the face of facts, desperate to point to something, anything positive about the regime of Ronald Reagan, cite a 'peace time expansion' following Reagan's recession of almost two years. In fact, every Democratic President has outperformed every GOP President since World War II.
And supply-siders are careful to note that Reagan's was the longest peacetime expansion since World War II. In truth, the Kennedy-Johnson expansion was longer: 106 months compared to Reagan's 92.1 Of course, there was a war in Vietnam, which gives supply-siders an excuse to dismiss it because wars are beneficial to the economy. But they are beneficial because governments engage in Keynesian borrowing and spending during them (which could be directed to social services as well as war). Unfortunately for supply-siders, it was really Keynesianism that produced the longest economic boom since World War II.

The Reagan tax cut robbed millions of financial and class status but worse: the hope that they might rise above poverty, better their lot and finance the education of their children. The plight of the very poor has only gotten worse since 1980 with a short-lived respite in Clinton's second term. What had been the 'lower middle' has slipped off into poverty. About one percent of the population owns more than the bottom 90 percent combined.

Historically in fascist regimes, a burgeoning population of 'the poor' represent to the power of military/industrial establishments a never-ending source of slave labor. If the American citizenry will not awakened from this nightmare, the worst is yet to come. Can anyone believe that the construction of FEMA camps at secret locations throughout the US is indicative of a federal agency diligence doing its job when, in fact, it was AWOL during Katrina!

In summary, the GOP has 'hollowed out' the US economy. That Ronald Reagan is primarily to blame for this is the very reason he is idolized by American fascists. "He made us feel good about ourselves", they swoon. Certainly, Hitler had the same effect on his supports as he rose to power, an opposite effect when the shit hit the fan! In the meantime, the Military/Industrial complex filled the void left by the dissolution of American industries --steel, cars, refrigerators, and electronics, all which are now imported, primarily from China and Japan.

America's number one export is 'death'. US adventures in the Middle East are done at the behest and for the benefit of the defense establishment. US military adventures serve three purposes: 1) the theft of 'oil', the energy source of choice for most nefarious reasons; 2) the employment of in the industry of death; 3) the maintenance of the GOP in power by marginalizing the opposition as 'terrorist'. As raison d'etre for perpetual war, 'terrorism' beats the pants off 'communism' any day. Many in the GOP are probably scratching their heads and wonder: "why didn't we think of this earlier???" Addendum: What happens when the 'dictator' is allowed to arbitrary rescind --by his unlawful decree --the protections of the US Constitution (a 'goddamned piece ofpaper') Due Process of Law and some 400 years of common law and Anglo-American jurisprudence and respects for the law!
GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -- An 18-year-old was punched in the face 13 times by a deputy police officer, whose dashboard video camera caught the incident on tape, WYFF Channel 4 News reported.

The video shows undercover Deputy Brian Tollison pulling over a truck driven by a drug suspect and beating the teenage driver while what appears to be a back-up deputy held down him down.

Once back-up deputies arrived, 18-year-old Jeremy Rucker was pulled out of the truck and tasered and kicked while lying prone on the ground.

Sheriff Steve Loftis fired Tollison, who also faces criminal charges for the incident, which took place May 15.

"The fact that Deputy Tollison took his closed fist and struck the suspect in the face 13 times in my opinion was excessive," Loftis said.

The other deputies involved have not been charged.

We must simply DEMAND that Bush and Cheney, the entire cabinet and key appointees, complicit enablers and anyone else in any position who has assisted, aided, financed in anyway monetarily or with valuable consideration, or in any way abetted by omission, the unlawful, treasonous, and murderous activities, decisions, plans, orders, decrees, signing statements or policies that have been connected in anyway with the overt and demonstrable subversions of the rule of law, specifically the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights and US Codes prior to their unlawful alteration by signing statements ordered by Bush and effected upon his order! Down with traitors, tyrants, mass murderers, war criminals and bald-faced liars!
