If 'Corporations' are 'people', then Labor Should Become a 'Person'

by Len Hart, The Existentialist Cowboy

If corporations are people so too are UNIONS! But --should UNIONS assert 'personhood', corporations (which don't like unions in ANY case) would scream bloody murder being comprised as they are of liars, psychopaths and hypocrites who cannot be held to their own 'standards'!

I have urged unions to INCORPORATE! What's to prevent them from fighting fire with fire? Nothing!!! And in this case SCOTUS would have no choice to but to support them having already said that any corporation that they may form is 'A' person.

I suggest that ALL OF THE UNIONS form a SUPER SUPER CORPORATION!

It should strike terror into the hearts of the crooks, liars, hypocrites and robber barons which now makes up the so-called 'corporate community' so dear to the hearts of crooked justices like Clarence Thomas.
THE NATION'S LARGEST UNIONS could --in fact --INCORPORATE and, in one stroke, strike fear and trembling into the hearts of so-called 'corporate AmeriKa':
As of 2003 these were all of the unions in the US with over 100,000 members in order from the largest:

  • NEA - National Education Association - 2,679,396
  • SEIU - Service Employees International Union - 1,464,007

  • BAC - International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers 101,499
  • TCU - Transportation Communications International Union 101,228
  • UMWA - United Mineworkers of America 100,570
Add up the membership of all these unions! How much money could be raised with the sale of stock?

I would urge this SUPER UNION, INC to sell stock! Few corporations could be so large so quickly. Should this stock sell publicly, this SUPER-UNION, INC could be a major player literally overnight. With that kind of clout, UNIONS could have their own lobbyists on K-Street!

Congress would --to say the least --pay attention and, one hopes, get a clue! Such a powerful 'corporation' could, at the same time, hire an army of lobbyists to lobby for the REPEAL of 'Citizens-United' which congress could easily do by merely, re-defining the word 'corporation'.

This is great insight. The idea that unions can incorporate is awesome, and something I've never thought of. Think of how many lobbyist and PAC's that would be swayed or created because of this. And the thought of a super super corporation would a great equalizer. Thanks for the post.

It would be a twofer. Not only could unions sell stock to raise revenue, if unions incorporate, thereby becoming 'A Person' under the definition invented by the SCOTUS cretin 5, then when corporations kill-bust-destroy unions (as they so love to do) they could be tried for murder. The SCOTUS cretin 5 would have no choice but to lock them up.

Indeed --entire unions were 'murdered' by Ronald Reagan during his horrible and fucked up admin. The 'air traffic controllers' union comes to mind. Too bad it too late to charge, try, sentence and execute numerous GOP admins for the various acts of murder against any organization that in any way assisted working men or defended their rights. But --sadly --pursuing bullshit to its logical conclusions has NEVER been a GOP strong suit.

Anonymous, INDEED! Fascist corporations could be tried for murder should their 'union busting' activities result in the dissolution of a 'union', in fact, a PERSON in the eyes of the law.

Corporations can only get away with this shit for as long we allow them do!

It's time to fight back and win!!!

I just did a search for "if corporations are people how about labor unions?" and found your post! Much food for thought...

The best way for a union to go is to become a 501c3 'non-profit' corporation.

I know of no reason why a 'union' cannot become a 501c3 'non-profit' corporation. Section 501(c) of the IRS Code lists some 28 types of nonprofit organizations exempt U.S. income tax. As many unions have involved themselves in various programs to assist workers, the non-profit may be the way to go. To deny unions this right would tyrannical.

501(c)(3) exemptions apply to any community chest, fund, cooperating association or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, or educational purposes. Unions can EASILY be shown to participate in both CHARITABLE and EDUCATIONAL activities.
