What Must Obama do about the Lie of the Century?

by Len Hart, The Existentialist Cowboy

Obama should get off his butt and insist upon war crimes trials of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Condo Rice. That Iraq had WMD was a bald faced lie to justify the seizure of Middle East oil fields! Ergo --every Iraqi death following is one count in a WAR CRIMES INDICTMENT on the scale of those charged to Adolph Hitler and high mucky mucks in the murderous Third Reich.
TITLE 18 >(a) Offense.— Whoever, whether inside or outside the United States, commits a war crime, in any of the circumstances described in subsection (b), shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for life or any term of years, or both, and if death results to the victim, shall also be subject to the penalty of death.

-- PART I > CHAPTER 118 > § 2441, War crimes
I say let the trials begin with George W. Bush who believed himself above the law and that the US Constitution was just a 'goddamned piece of paper'!
The government official who wrote the first draft of the "dodgy dossier" that helped propel Britain into war in Iraq today admits, "We were wrong."

John Williams, a former Foreign Office aide, said last night that publication of his document would expose how members of Tony Blair's team were locked in a mindset that made military action inevitable.

On Wednesday, ministers will hit a deadline for publishing the 2002 document, after years of resistance.

The Williams draft was written in September 2002, only days after Mr Blair, then Prime Minister, announced that the Government would publish a dossier of intelligence showing that Saddam Hussein threatened the world with his weapons.

The draft was not disclosed at the Hutton inquiry into the death in 2003 of the former Iraq arms inspector David Kelly. The scientist had suggested the dossier was exaggerated to justify the UK joining the 2003 invasion.

--'Dodgy dossier' was 'wrong', its author says, The Independant
According to the Times of London, Ministers had been warned in July 2002 that it "had no choice but to find a way" of making the American-led invasion of Iraq legal. In other words, the government in Britain KNEW that what Bush was doing in and to Iraq was a prosecutable war crime but, instead of doing the right thing, Britain sought to 'make it legal'. The very phrase --'to make it legal' --speaks to guilt and pre-meditation of both the US government of George W. Bush and the British government of Tony Blair in whom so many hopes had been invested, later dashed by the corrupting influences of the worst and most criminal White House in US history.

Damn Liars and War Criminals!

If the nation had wanted another eight years of war, a total of some twenty years of quagmire, war crimes and other atrocities. it might have put two idiots in the White House --John McCain and the even stupider Sarah Palin.

Rather, the nation wanted change and expressed that hope by electing an articulate man of substance. Committing the nation to an quaqmire well underway is NOT what the nation voted for. Another eight years of Bush's war crime is NOT the path the US should be on if it wishes to restore its blackened image throughout the world.

Nope! No WMD under the podium!

Bush, et al, in prison or on the gallows.
No question.
But let's not forget Mr. Obama and his role in this so far:

US Code TITLE 18, PART I, CHAPTER 1, § 3
§ 3. Accessory after the fact
Whoever, knowing that an offense against the United States has been committed, receives, relieves, comforts or assists the offender in order to hinder or prevent his apprehension, trial or punishment, is an accessory after the fact.
Except as otherwise expressly provided by any Act of Congress, an accessory after the fact shall be imprisoned not more than one-half the maximum term of imprisonment or (notwithstanding section 3571) fined not more than one-half the maximum fine prescribed for the punishment of the principal, or both; or if the principal is punishable by life imprisonment or death, the accessory shall be imprisoned not more than 15 years.

I'm sure we can find a cell for him, too.

Surely you don't expect the current perpetrator of war crimes to actually attempt to try the previous, do you?

In case you haven't been paying attention, the current president just decided to continue the illegal war

It is Obama lawyers who have argued before the Supreme Court that Guantanamo detainees have no legal rights. There's no hope that Obama will prosecute Bush and Co for war crimes. I think your earlier suggestion of a fearless judge acting on their own recognizance is the only hope.

It's obvious what needs to be done.

Thanks Len, I linked to this wonderful post too. But it's wonderful in that way that makes you angry, you know what I mean?

While OBOMBA's arresting the DICK and Junior, he can also have the USAG read him his Miranda warning.

Obama's in just as deep as Bush and that crowd, with his blatant disregard of the Constitution, his multitude of lies and his amping up of the war in Afghanistan, while starting new ones in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia.

Just because he's got a Democrat title doesn't mean doodly, he's just another NWO shill who is serving the real power, the Pentagon, Wall Street and Israel.

"What Must Obama do about the Lie of the Century?"

Keep telling more to keep the original lie fresh, like his insistence that people need to believe the official 9/11 explanation.

All it takes is ONE Federal Grand jury with any integrity whatsoever!

Any Federal Grand Jury can --upon its own motion --hand down an indictment based upon probable cause.

I urge anyone currently on a Grand Jury: GET OFF YOUR ASS AND DO WHAT'S RIGHT!

All we need is one Fed Grand Jury with integrity.

Love your stuff Len. I don't mean to be contrary. I've just learned something that I've taken to heart. I think I read in the bible somewhere. It goes like this:

"Blessed are they who expect nothing, for they shall not be diasppointed."

"...All it takes is ONE Federal Grand jury with any integrity whatsoever! ..."

I've learned to believe with my eyes. After Fitzmas I've backed off on 'hoping' and 'wishing'.

Considering the deeply entrenched cabal currently controlling this escapade, and considering BO now has the same speechwriters as W did. Considering BO has as his chief-of-staff the a dual-citizen son of an Israeli terrorist and considering that BO's VP is a self-proclaimed Zionist, I tend not to hold my breath for some group of 'patriots' to reach a conclusion that was reached by many of us 8 years ago.

All it takes is ONE Federal Grand Jury to be CONVENED! WHEN that happens, and not until, we can breath for a short period, then go back to holding our breath for the outcome.

The problem with the US is the lack of a 2 party system. There is one party with two faces so we can 'throw out the scoundrels' every 4 years but nothing appreciable changes. The people of the US need to start voting OUTSIDE THE BOX. Repocrat/Demopublican has got to GO! So to, it seems, do computerized voting machines.

Keep it up Len. The world needs more like you.

Warm Winter Solstice to all.

I agree with those who point out that Obama is no better, or maybe he's just not better enough to do the right thing. I've recently decided I was mistaken to support him. That West Point speech was the final straw for me.

I cannot afford to completely withdraw ALL support of Obama but that assumes my support makes any fucking difference! That describes the position that 'we' are put in by the system itself.

In a real Democracy we would have real choices; rather, we are ruled by the ELITES who give us the ONLY choice we're gonna get: GOP or GOP-lite!

You may be a true progressive. But there were NONE on the ballot.

You may be a socialist! But there were NONE on the ballot.

You may be POPULIST ! But there were NONE of the ballot.

We have but two wings of a single CORPORATIST party and, short of revolution, there is simply nothing we can do about it.
